Dale Winter Warmers was set up in October 2018. It is run by a small Committee. The first Annual General Meeting of the Association will be held in the Autumn when the Committee will report back on progress made and members will be able to have an input into the plans for the year ahead.
The aims of Dale Winter Warmers, as set out in its constitution, are to enhance the wellbeing of the residents of Dale and the surrounding area and mitigate against the effects of second home ownership in Dale by
- organising social activities during the months of October through to March, when the effects of second home ownership are felt most, to enable residents to meet together to take part in social, leisure, cultural, educational or sporting activities
- supporting members in making applications for services and/or grants to improve the quality of life within the village and promote a vibrant and sustainable permanent community.
Dale Winter Warmers put in an application for an Enhancing Pembrokeshire Grant and we heard that it was successful at the end of January. Unfortunately there was then not time to organise any activities this winter. Over the coming months we will be taking time to find out what the residents of Dale would like to see organised during the next “season” – October 2019 – March 2020. We will be working together on this with PAVS Community Connectors and Volunteering Matters.
In order to comply with the terms of the grant we have held two fundraising events to enable us to match fund the 20% of the total project costs. We are extremely grateful to the support of the local community, both businesses and individuals, who made our Table-top Sale and Bingo Night very successful and enjoyable events. We are going to join in Pirate Day (29thJune) this year and the organisers have kindly stated that we can receive a share of the profit to make up the amount of the 20% we still need.
